New Leaf plays live Irish music at the ICC on Saturday, November 23 from 6–9 pm. If you would like dinner reservations, please call 413-342-4358. All are welcome to come and enjoy the music. New Leaf is Kira Jewett on fiddle, Jacob Hagelberg on accordion, and Jim Bunting on guitar, vocals and bouzouki. Together they play traditional tunes with tight, driving rhythm, interspersed with Jim’s unique take on Ireland’s song repertoire. This show includes special guest Sally Fortini joining in on flute.

Kira Jewett started playing classically when she was just three years old, but fell in love with the music of Ireland in her 20s and studied extensively with the virtuoso fiddler Brian Conway. She is the 2003 All-Ireland fiddle Slow Airs Champion. Singer and rhythm player Jim Bunting is an avid local session player who brings a sensitive touch and driving rhythm to the band. Jacob Hagelberg is a session musician who specializes in the B/C style of accordion. He fell in love with the music at 17, and has been playing ever since studying under Billy McComiskey and Damien Connolly.

About John Nolan
John Nolan’s introduction to the world of accordions began with his father’s Baldoni/Bartoli D/C# 2 Row Button Accordion. John was later introduced to Aldo Mencaccini of Bell Accordion, the master craftsman, tuner, technician, and mentor. Their valuable time together put John on the path to tuning, repairing, and complete servicing of accordions and the eventual establishing of his Buttons & Bellows shop. In the mid 1990’s John teamed up with another close friend, Jim Coogan, to introduce “The Boxeen” line of accordions.
