The Irish Cultural Center presents a celebration of the Irish Language and Culture through history, heritage, food, and traditional music.
Lá na Gaeilge will take place on Zoom on Saturday, May 7 from 12:00–3:30 pm EST.We are very excited to celebrate virtually with all of you and our wonderful guests. Irish Fulbright Scholar Réaltín Mc Elhinney will host this event. Réaltín is from Inis Eoghain, County Donegal, an area which will be proudly represented throughout the program.
This annual bilingual program represents a joint commitment by Elms College and the Irish Cultural Center of Western New England to celebrate the Irish Language and Culture with the community.
Family Games Day is now every Sunday! Join us at the Irish House Restaurant on Sundays to use any of our Milton Bradley games, including Monopoly, Battleship, Candy Land, Monopoly Junior, and Star Wars Operation. No age limit – this fun community event is perfect for kids and adults alike!
The Irish House Restaurant is open to the public from 1–6 pm every Sunday – playing games not required. Spend a relaxing Sunday with lunch or a drink at the Trinity Pub or outside on our beautiful patio – as a Games Day special, all appetizers are half price.
The Irish Cultural Center is sponsoring a Fall Tour to Ireland (October 10-20, 2022) visiting Killarney, Dingle and Galway. Tour includes roundtrip airfare, roundtrip bus from the ICC to Boston’s Logan Airport, daily breakfast and 7 dinner meals, top rated hotels, optional day trips and attractions. Cost of the tour is $3,695 per person sharing.
A great day in the Dingle Peninsula of Ireland! The ICCWNE’s own Ed Sullivan (Board of Directors) and West Springfield Mayor William Reichelt are formally welcomed to Dingle by the Dingle Peninsula Tourism Alliance and Kerry County Council. West Springfield is a Sister City of Corca Dhuibhne.

Free Rugby Youth Clinic on April 23 For 6th–12th grade students, hosted by the Springfield Rifles Rugby Club and New England Free Jacks of Major League Rugby. Saturday, April 23 at 11:30 am at the ICC.

On March 19, 2022, the Irish Cultural Center of Western New England was honored to host Norma Foley TD, Minister for Education for the Government of Ireland, and her delegation.
Ed Sullivan, President of the West Springfield Sister City Organization and Irish Cultural Center board member, was extremely pleased to coordinate and welcome the visit of Minister Foley, along with the Irish Cultural Center and the Town of West Springfield.
The delegation included: Norma Foley TD, Minister for Education, Government of Ireland; Denis Maguire, husband of Minister Foley; Bernie McNally, Secretary General, Department of Education; Eoin Murphy, Advisor to Minister Foley; Áine Doyle, Advisor to Minister Foley; and Dr. Laoise Moore, Consul General of Ireland to New England.
Minister Foley and her delegation toured the Irish Cultural Center facilities, including the library/museum and the under-construction performance venue. They enjoyed meeting with invited guests and dinner at the Irish House Restaurant. Ed Sullivan, West Springfield Mayor William Reichelt and Minister Foley gave remarks.
The visit of the Irish delegation was a continuation of the Sister City Organization’s effort to enhance the international, cultural, educational, and economic relationship between West Springfield’s Sister City, Dingle, in County Kerry, Ireland.

The Irish Cultural Center is linking up with Irish historian, Sean Murphy, to introduce our community to live, weekly online Irish history courses. Sean presents two monthly topics, divided into four-week modules. Courses are presented on Zoom. Each student will receive an electronic copy of each presentation.
The first topic is a general history of Ireland from ancient times to the present day. The course module for April 2022 is The Rise of Sinn Fein and the Irish War of Independence. Takes place on Thursdays, April 7, 14, 21 & 28 from 7:30–9:00 pm. Download course flyer.

About Sean Murphy Sean Murphy was born and reared in Dublin and came to live on Cape Cod in 2005. He has a passion for his homeland and loves to share his knowledge and interest about his heritage through classes, workshops and conversation. He is a teacher of Irish history, music, and dance. Over the past twelve years he has taught courses at the Irish Cultural Center of New England in Canton, Cape Cod Sons of Erin, Cape Cod Cultural Center, the Cotuit Center for the Arts, and at venues on Nantucket. He leads a traditional Irish music session in O’Shea’s Old Inne in West Dennis every Sunday night. He speaks on Irish cultural and historic issues at libraries, and at private and community events across the Cape and beyond.

Réaltín Mc Elhinney appeared on Mass Appeal on March 16, 2022 for the segment “Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig ort! A lesson in Irish.” She teaches viewers some Irish phrases you can use this St. Patrick’s Day. Réaltín is this year’s Irish Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant, teaching classes for Elms College and the ICC. Watch the video clip >
